From the female point of view I have been able to use things in our RV for the first time like my washer. It works very well and makes life less stressful especially when your husband is saying where is all my under wear? Once you have all the kinks worked out with battery trouble, axle, and searching for this and that, it is a wonderful way to live. I do not miss work yet but do miss family and friends. Wish they all could be here for the holidays especially my baby grand daughter Reese. Grammie loves you!
Our Florida trip for 2009/2010 seems a good time to get the blog up and running. We left Nova Scotia Thursday, December 24, 2009. Christmas Eve on the road. We got as far as Houlton, Maine the first night and over nighted at Wal Mart in minus 10 degree temps. Christmas Day had us driving in light snow for a while but nothing too serious. Christmas Dinner at McDonalds. Later that evening we navigated NYC and it wasn't too bad for traffic, just have to have a head like an owl to keep an eye on cars coming from every direction. Boxing Day was a traffic nightmare, stop and go much of the way, about 3 hours to get around DC. Got a motel in Jersey and set out next day and fought heavy rain for a spell then bad traffic again all day. Got our first campground this day in Virginia. Dewinterized the rig and finished with motels. December 27 saw us reach North Florida where we camped in St. Augustine. Weather is getting a lot better but a bit cool for Florida, not that we notice much. I think I've lost a day in here somewhere but we arrived at our campground, Road Runner Travel Resort, on December 29.
We have had some Big Sky problems along the way. The battery charger decided to quit on the second day out and we discovered tire/axle problems during an inspection before heading out our final day. One tire severely worn. Almost unbelievably the Ford made it down here without a hitch. How long can that last?
Yesterday was spent looking around for a laptop, an RV repair centre and groceries. We will be glad to have those chores out of the way and get down to relaxing. Must get some pics posted here too. The girls seem happy with their new surroundings and I must get a few pics of them on here.
Weather was great yesterday, 24 degrees and maybe 27 today. Cooler for the weekend.
